In 2027, at Hofu Tenmangu Shrine, the 45th Grand goshinki Festival will be held.

The “45th Grand goshinki Festival” honors the passing and deification of the enshrined deity, Sugawara no Michizane, and his deification.

Held every 25 years, this is the Shrine’s largest festival, and it is a prayer for the rejuvenation of Michizane's divine power.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, we are soliciting photos from around the world capturing the "charm of Hofu Tenmangu Shrine" from your own perspective.

 

"Bringing Japan's First Tenmangu Shrine to the World"

Hofu Tenmangu Shrine is the first Tenjin shrine established in Japan.

Now is the time to share its history, beauty throughout the seasons, and the scenery we have carefully preserved, with the world. Share your photos of the Shrine with the hashtag (see Application overview).

Your single image could become someone's reason to visit Hofu.

The solemn scenes of Shinto rituals, the beauty of the shrine grounds throughout the seasons, and the smiles of the worshippers.

Why not share your feelings towards "Tenjin-sama" (the deity of the Tenjin Shrine) on Instagram?

Winners will receive a monetary prize and local specialties.

Phase 3: October 1, 2026 (Thu) - December 31, 2026 (Thu)

Phase 4: January 1, 2027 (Fri) - March 31, 2027 (Wed)

【Application Overview】

Participating in the contest is just 3 steps away:

 

①Follow the official Hofu Tenmangu Instagram account @hofutenmangu_official

② Post your photo with the hashtag #防府天満宮式年大祭フォトコン or #hofutenmanguphoto1125

③ Include a short comment about your photo in the caption.

【What to photograph】

The grounds of Hofu Tenmangu Shrine, Shinto rituals, scenery, and offerings (amulets, goshuin seal stamps), etc.

【Prize Information】

Winners will be selected four times, in each period.

・Grand Prize (1 winner): 50,000 yen (Overall prize for all four periods)

・Excellence Awards (3 winners): 5,000 yen + a Hofu specialty product set (Periods 1-3)

・Honorable Mentions (10 winners): a Hofu specialty product set (Periods 1-3)

*The prize money can also be given as an Amazon gift card.

【Application Guidelines】

・Only photos taken during the event period are eligible.

・This campaign is for feed posts (images) and Reels (videos).

*Stories are not eligible.

・This campaign is for users with public accounts.

*Private accounts are not eligible.

・Submitted photos must be taken by the user.

・If there are people in the photo, please be sure to get their permission before submitting.

・Winning entries may be used in Hofu Tenmangu Shrine's publicity activities (website, social media, posters, etc.).

・Entries must not violate public order and morals.

・Submissions that meet the entry requirements during the application period will be considered as entries for this campaign.

・Photos posted with hashtags may be reproduced, processed, edited, distributed, used to create derivative works, or otherwise used by third parties free of charge, without obtaining individual permission from the applicant.

・Multiple entries are allowed.

・The following cases will result in disqualification:

 

① Violating the application rules

② Setting the account or post to private

③ Unfollowing the official shrine account before the winner announcement

④ Failing to reply to the DM within the specified period
